Textile and Handmade Paper Designer Maker

Julie creates vessels, lampshades, mirrors, wall pieces, larger scale installation pieces, and more recently a range of jewellery, from an innovative and specially developed method of papermaking. The sculptural forms created are constructed by combining paper with textile fibres, these are then moulded, dyed and often hand stitched.

 She has recently set up a studio in Bristol at Mivart Street Artists, after leaving The Museum of English Rural Life in Reading where she was resident artist/ maker and had completed an18-month placement on the Arts Councils’ ‘Setting up Scheme’ (an initiative to help emerging artists/ makers set up in business). She also created and installed a large-scale commission for the museum while on placement there.

Julie exhibits nationally, provides textile and arts based workshops to children and adults, and lectures in this area. She is also available for commissions.
