Julie uses an innovative and specially
developed method of paper-making to create vessels, mirrors, lampshades
and larger scale installation pieces; The sculptural forms are
constructed by combining paper with natural fibres, these are then
moulded, dyed and often, hand stitched. As part of an Arts Council initiative, the Setting up Scheme (helps emerging artists/makers set up in business), Julie has been on an 18 month placement at The Museum of English Rural Life,in Reading, Berkshire. She has also completed a large-scale commission for the museum, which is on permanent display there. Julie is continuing to develop her practice by exhibiting regularly, providing textile, paper and arts based workshops, lecturing in this field, and developing new work.
